Sandy,

Both Roxio Toast Titanium 8 and Roxio Popcorn 3 come with Tivo Transfer, and both offer transcoding options optimized for iPods, iPhones, Apple TV, and the ability to do custom settings for the PSP, Zune, and most media players.

I'm not sure I could say either Toast or Popcorn is better than the other...both are great and pretty much the same for this specific task. Toast, of course, also offers really great DVD and CD burning (I've used and loved it for years), but Popcorn is cheaper.

Aral,

Yes, I've actually tested the Elgato Turbo.264 hardware encoder with iMovie '08 and iMovie HD. The key is to make sure you use Share -> Export using QuickTime and then select one of the Elgato Turbo.264 settings for the codec.

Andy, usually our video loads pretty fast. We use Limelight and Akamai as our CDN (content deliver network). Maybe there was a net traffic issue when you tried. Please try again and see.

Are you sure about iMovie '08 support? The FAQ entry on Elgato's site says that it isn't compatible. I'm buying it anyway to test.
